We are seeking a Senior Engineer (Mechanical or Structural) with 10+ years of experience to take on a key engineering, project and client management role in our Brisbane and Perth team. This role is designed for a high-calibre professional with a multidisciplinary background in heavy industry, combining technical mentorship, project management, and client engagement responsibilities. You will play a crucial role in executing mid-tier design and delivery projects while fostering strong client relationships and supporting the broader Rockfield team.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical and Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers in the office or on site, ensuring high-quality technical and project outcomes. You will be responsible for coordinating engineers in design, engineering and projects tasks, through to conducting and approving key technical deliverables yourself.
- Study/Project delivery: Effectively deliver engineering studies and projects across heavy industry, port and agriculture sectors. From FEED; through to detailed design including facilitation of risk & safety project aspects, including Safety in Design, Risk Assessments, HAZOPs; as well as contractor management, tendering support, execution and commissioning liaison type activities, as required.
- Project Management: Oversee and deliver engineering and design studies/projects, managing client expectations, timelines, budgets, and technical delivery across multiple disciplines, internally and externally.
- Subcontractor Engagement: Manage external subcontractors across EIC, hydraulic, geotechnical, and other disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Rockfield’s engineering and design teams, and other engineering disciplines to efficiently utilise internal resources.
- Client Account Management: Maintain and grow existing client relationships by engaging regularly with key stakeholders to ensure you understand their operational and capital programs; expanding Rockfield’s products/services offerings within existing client organisations and undertaking client and market strategic activities.
- Site Engagement: Undertake ad-hoc site visits to support project execution and client account management activities.
We are seeking Senior and Principal Structural Engineers (~10+ years’ experience) to join our growing teams in Melbourne, Brisbane, Townsville, and Perth. With strong demand across both the resources and heavy industry and transport infrastructure sectors, we’re looking for high-calibre engineering professionals with proven experience in either sector—or ideally both. These roles are ideal for engineers ready to take on a key position combining:
- Technical leadership and scope management on multi-disciplinary projects

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll dive into a variety of exciting challenges, including:
- Structural Design Leadership: Lead and execute structural design projects and studies independently, with a particular focus on mining/industrial and transport infrastructure, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications, standards, and project timelines.
- Technical Expertise: Prepare or review technical documentation, calculations, analyses/models, reports, and drawings to ensure they meet the highest standards of accuracy, quality and relevant specifications/standards.
- Site Attendance/Inspections: Attend site to conduct asset/infrastructure condition inspections to support project activities, offering your technical expertise to bring design solutions to life. Ensuring whilst on-site, you are identifying new opportunities to strengthening key client relationships.
- Project Management: Oversee and deliver engineering and design studies/projects, managing client expectations, timelines, budgets, and technical delivery across multiple disciplines, internally and externally. Work closely with Rockfield’s distributed project, engineering and design teams, and other engineering disciplines to efficiently utilise internal resources.
- Stakeholder Communication: Proficiently communicate with teams, clients, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project and technical requirements, are clearly communicated and fulfilled.
Due to growth, expansion, and new client relationships, Rockfield have a need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with Bulk Materials Handling expertise. This is a newly created role, and we are looking for someone who resides in Perth. The skills and experience required include:
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with 8+ years’ experience
- Experience in design projects with bulk handling capabilities
- Chute and debottlenecking design (DEM) experience is preferable.
- Bulk handling plant (balance machines, wagon unloaders) design (FEA, fatigue) experience preferable
- Any experience with asset owners would be beneficial, e.g., secondments
- Team leader experience
- Project management and client facing

- Degree-qualified Structural or Civil Engineer with 8+ years’ experience
- Experience working in a heavy industry in an Owner’s environment and/or as a consultant, would be considered advantageous.
- Fundamental structural knowledge and understanding of structural behaviours and failure mechanism.
- Experience with asset owners would be beneficial, e.g., secondments.

- Project management and client facing with proven experience with structural design documentation.
